Cloud vault and MCP
The cloud vault gives your notes an encrypted home you can reach from anywhere, share, and connect to an AI assistant.
The vault
- Notes are encrypted at rest and versioned; a save can become a version you can view and compare.
- Folders can be shared with a team, with their own access level per folder.
- The web app works on any device and installs as a PWA; notes you've already opened stay readable offline.
- Free includes 20 notes and 3 versions per note. See Plans and pricing for the paid tiers. An account that already holds more than 20 loses nothing: you can still open, edit and delete those notes, and create new ones again once you have fewer than 20 notes or are on Individual.
Versions, honestly
You can view any past version read-only and compare two versions side by side. There's no button that jumps a note straight back to an arbitrary older version: the only way back is to delete the current version, which reverts the note to the latest saved version underneath and gives you a few seconds to undo.
MCP server
Context Raven runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so an AI assistant reads and writes your notes directly, without you copying content between chat and vault.
Connect from Settings → AI assistants, pick your client, and follow the steps. Supported clients include Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Cursor.
What the assistant can do:
| Tool | Effect |
|---|---|
list_folders, list_notes, search_notes | Find folders and notes |
get_note, create_note, edit_note | Read and write a note's content |
list_versions, get_version, create_version, restore_version | Work with a note's history |
create_folder | Organize the vault |
Every write an assistant makes is a version, so you can see and compare exactly what changed.
HTML notes
An assistant can also write a whole HTML page into the vault — a dashboard with tables, charts and stat cards — instead of Markdown. You cannot write one in the editor; it arrives from an assistant and you read it.
The app shows it rendered, in a sandbox that cannot reach the network or the rest of your vault, and it follows the app's light or dark theme. Download HTML saves it as one self-contained file that opens in any browser on its own.
Most dashboards size themselves to their content, and the reading pane around them does the scrolling. A dashboard built as a full-height "app shell" — its own layout, not something you control — is shown differently: it fills the visible pane and scrolls itself, like a full-screen app, so nothing in it is ever cut off.
These notes carry an HTML badge in the sidebar, and the search filter @html narrows the list
to them.
Skills and templates
A note marked as a skill is a reusable instruction an assistant can load into its own context. A template seeds new notes with a starting structure. Both are ordinary Markdown notes.
REST API
Everything the MCP server can do is also reachable over HTTPS with a personal API key, for your own scripts and automations.
Desktop and cloud together
From the desktop app, switch to the Cloud view, next to Local and Sync by the logo, to open this same vault in the same window. A local file reaches it through Share to cloud; a whole shared folder, through Raven Sync.
Team pricing
Team is priced per person, including the owner. Monthly and annual prices follow the generated table below. Each band applies only to people inside it, with no minimum. A person in several organizations owned by the same subscriber counts once.
A trial organization permits the owner and one other person. Upgrade the owner to Team to add more. Existing members and notes remain when Team ends; only new joins are refused while over the trial limit. Before you create an invite, the organization shows the additional price for your monthly or annual plan when a new person joins. Removing a person changes billing with proration and preserves notes and folders. Your personal notes follow your own plan.
On an annual Team plan, people added during the year create prorations for the remaining annual period. These prorations are billed monthly; adding a person does not charge your card immediately. Switching from annual to monthly turns unused annual time into account credit for future invoices, not a refund. The plan-change confirmation shows the amount charged now, including that credit and any pending prorations.
| People (owner included) | Monthly per person | Annual per person |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | €10 | €100 |
| 11–50 | €8 | €80 |
| 51+ | €6 | €60 |
