Settings and preferences
The preferences Context Raven remembers between launches. They aren't collected in one settings screen; each one lives next to the feature it controls.
Appearance
- Theme — system, light, or dark. The toggle lives in the navigation bar shared by the Local, Cloud, and Sync views.
- Sidebar width — drag its edge to resize, from 200 to 600 px. It persists, and is shared with the cloud workspace's own editor.
- Interface zoom — scales the whole window: sidebar, toolbars, headers, and the document together, from 50% to 200%. The View menu and its keyboard shortcuts always change it, signed in or not — see File menu. The −/+ buttons and Reset link shown here, on the account Settings page, only reach you once you're signed in (see Local, Cloud and Sync views); the desktop app otherwise runs signed out. It's separate from the document font size below: interface zoom scales the font size's own text along with everything else, but never changes the font-size preference itself.
Editing
- Frontmatter block — collapsed or expanded is one setting for the whole app, not saved per file.
- Formatting toolbar — collapse it with the chevron above it; your choice persists. Below a header width of 768 px, the toolbar hides itself regardless of this setting.
- Font size — a stepper next to the version sidebar.
Sidebar
- Sort files by recency — off by default. Turning it on flattens the tree into one list, most recently changed first.
- Show gitignored files — on by default. Turning it off hides files your
.gitignoreexcludes, such as agent output. - Excluded Paths — set per folder from that folder's ⋯ menu → Exclude settings…, not a global
preference. Exclude Settings accepts files, subfolders and patterns such as
*.json. A file row's Exclude from watching adds its exact path unless it already matches a rule or contains*or?.**is recursive only as a whole path segment; rules must contain a literal character (*.*is allowed). A newly covering rule closes an open tab after saving; a failed save keeps its text open. See Folder watch.
History
- View last changes in document — off by default; once turned on, it persists. See View last changes.
- Unified / Side-by-side — how the Compare Versions panel displays a diff; persists globally. See Compare versions.
Limits
These preferences live on this computer. Only theme and sidebar width follow you into the cloud workspace; everything else on this page is local to the desktop app.
